To be considered a transfer student when you apply to CBU, you must have completed 24 or more units from a college or university and have graduated high school. Don’t worry if you have not completed 24 college units yet, you can apply as a first-time freshman and provide us transcripts from your college or university for credit evaluation. You can also use the tools on this page below.

Upon acceptance to the university, your transcripts will be officially evaluated by the University Registrar's office. Once completed, they will be sent to your admissions counselor, who will notify you of the evaluation results. However, if you want an early, unofficial evaluation of your transferable units, CBU wants to meet you where you’re at and has several helpful resources to better understand how your units may transfer to CBU! After using these resources, be sure to connect with your admissions counselor to review in more detail.

Articulation AgreementsCheck out CBU's Articulation Agreements with select California community colleges to review general education equivalencies and pre-nursing prerequisite courses.
TransferologyAccess Transferology, an online tool that allows you to see which courses transfer to CBU. Follow the steps by creating an account or logging into your account, enter the college/university courses you completed and click "search for matches" to see how your courses transfer to CBU.
Please note this is not an exhaustive list of courses that transfer to CBU, we are always updating it with new equivalencies! If you see that your courses do not transfer or would like them further reviewed, select the "Request Information" button on the CBU profile to send your course report to us. Your admissions counselor will connect with you once a review has been completed.

How long will it take me to graduate from CBU?Remaining time to graduation varies drastically from student to student and can only officially be determined by the University Registrar's office and Academic Advising. You can reference our Articulation Agreements, or create an account on Transferology to see how your units will transfer to CBU. Then cross reference that information with our Major Planning Guides to get a rough estimate of the time to graduate based on your transferrable courses.
What courses are required to transfer?We do not require that you have any specific courses or an associate’s degree completed in order to transfer. Once you have acquired 24 semester units you are eligible to apply as a transfer student. If you do not have 24 semester units completed, we will require official high school transcripts.
If I have an associate's degree, will my general education requirements be waived?Individuals transferring to CBU with an associate's degree and either IGETC and CSU General Education Breadth Certification prior to transfer are waived from general education requirements, with the exception of the biblical and theological core and English composition (ENG 113 & 123) courses.
Students with an approved associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution outside of California or who have completed a CBU approved Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) prior to transferring are waived from general education requirements with the exception of the biblical and theological core.
How will I know what classes are required for my degree?If you have already selected a major to pursue at CBU, you can reference these Major Planning Guides which lay out the general education and degree requirements for each academic program. When enrolling in classes during new student class registration, you will receive a personalized degree guide as well as help from a CBU student success coach to answer any questions or concerns you might have during the registration process. This personalized degree guide will include any transferrable units you’ve already completed as well as general education requirements and major requirements, so you won’t have to plan out your CBU courses on your own!
When can I expect to receive an official evaluation of my transcripts?Upon acceptance to the university, your transcripts will be officially evaluated by the University Registrar’s office. Once completed, the transcripts will be sent to your admissions counselor who will notify you of the evaluation results. In the meantime, you can also create an account on Transferology to see how your units will transfer to CBU while you wait for an official evaluation.
How can I make an appointment with my counselor?There are a few ways to schedule an appointment with your counselor:
Through our traditional daytime program, we offer various classes throughout the week beginning at 7 a.m. with the majority taking place in block format on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays OR Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day. Full-time students (enrolled in 12 to 18 units) in the traditional daytime program should expect to attend classes on campus at least three to four days
per week during the daytime hours. If you cannot, you may wish to inquire about our CBU Online program to learn more about program offerings available online.
No, you would apply to CBU as a first-time freshman. A transfer applicant is someone with over 24 completed college units AND has graduated high school. We will still review your completed college work for credit once accepted.
